I've been busily putting all the finishing touches (labels, machine quilting my last of my "Campbell Ridge" wallhangings, the hand quilting on another lap quilt) on my next batch of quilts for The Dark Corner.
And, trying to catch up on computer stuff and networking... so good to have internet again! I am resolving to try to post something, no matter how short, each day.
For today's enjoyment, here is a photo of this darling little girl's dress, made of 1930's reproduction fabrics, an upcycled girls shirt, and the sweetest little 1930's kitty cat applique design:
Isn't she cute? I love how the little hand embroidered details and decorative machine stitching really accented the dress... this is one of my favorites of children's clothes I've made.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day, leave me a comment if you feel like it-they make me smile :)
i love kids clothes, especially more old fashioned ones. it seems like kids were more encouraged to dress like kids in the past than they are now. something weirds me out about 3 year olds in skinny jeans and halter tops.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hannah!! Me too... I have an 8 yr old son, and of course he has to wear jeans and stuff now, but when he was a toddler, I loved making the little rompers from vintage patterns for him. Nice and cool and comfortable for him, and SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way, I grew up wearing dresses and skirts, and although I don't have a little girl, I cannot imagine letting my 3 year old, or even 10 yr old, wearing halter tops and mini skirts and all that... what happened to the old days of letting kids dress like kids, not like miniature adults?
That's part of why I make old-fashioned children's clothing every now and then... it doesn't sell very well, people want their kids to look "Hip" too much, but I have fun dreaming :)
