Inspiration for my son's "new" lamp...

I stumbled upon this wonderful  blog of a Supermom, and she is absolutely inspiring with what she can do with a can of paint! My son's walls are going to be painted something like what's on her living room wall, and I loved the combination of orangey/ice blue!
Here is the before:

With the primer/3 coats of spray painted Krylon "Blue Ocean Breeze":

I didn't have any black paint, but I had some bronze acrylic left from another project, so my son & I dry brushed it into the lamp; then I went back & added a little more into the creases, and used a newspaper to blot to make it look even a little more weathered:

After it's dry, off comes the painters tape and on goes a new white drum shade from Target. Total cost of paint and brushes was about $10 (used Michael's coupon for 1 can), new lamp shade for $14, and we have a gorgeous "new" lamp for $24!! The lamp I bought at a yard sale for $5 several years ago.

I like how it turned out so well that I want to try to do something similar for our room! Thanks so much to "Supermom" for her inspiration!!!
